North Korea may not be the preferred destination of foreign tourists. The proof, until now there is only one World Heritage Site owned by the country.

North Korea has only one cultural sites listed in the UNESCO World Heritage. The site is the Complex of Goguryeo Tombs.

Goguryeo Funeral Complex consists of 30 individual tombs from the Goguryeo Kingdom. Kingdom of Goguryeo is one of the largest and most powerful empire in North Korea since 37 BC until the 7th century, the spread of the Korean Peninsula to the People's Republic of China. The capital of the kingdom is now the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.

The graves in this cemetery complex has unique frescoes. His paintings depict the daily life of the kingdom of Goguryeo in the past. The complex is believed to be the burial tombs of the kings, queens, and other royals. This cemetery is the remains of almost all cultures of North Korea.

Unique wall painting that makes Cemetery Complex of Goguryeo in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004 as the first and only world heritage originating from North Korea.

The remains of the kingdom of Goguryeo others have been found in China, such as cemeteries and ruins of the city, has also been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
